As a Certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Mississippi Federal is mission driven

At our core, we are committed to providing financial services that meet the diverse needs of individuals and communities who have been typically underserved by traditional banks.

CDFIs are certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. In order to become a certified CDFI, financial institutions must:

•Have a primary mission of promoting community development

•Provide financial products and services

•Serve one or more defined low-income target markets

•Be a legal non-government entity

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), we are not only serving our members, but we are serving our communities as a whole. More than simply providing strong and fair financial services, our time and resources are devoted to building up the areas that we serve. Like all credit unions, we are a not-for-profit cooperative and our members all own an equal share of the credit union itself. Everything we take in, from deposits to loan payments, is immediately given back to our members and the community by providing reliable convenient services, healthy lending opportunities, financial counseling, lower fees, and higher dividends. Only a small number of financial institutions in Mississippi are CDFIs, and we are so proud to be included on that short list! We at Mississippi Federal Credit Union are proud to serve our communities by volunteering and sponsoring events within our area.
